I left school with very little interest in working at an office or anything indoors, i always wanted to be hands on as that's where i felt like i thrived. That being said, my Father worked as a General Builder/Bricklayer who was known for his high level of skill in the trade (Barn conversions, feature brickwork, and generally being creative). So this meant only one thing for me, which was to join under his wing and soak up as much knowledge and skill for the Bricklaying trade.
Now after 15 years of working alongside my Father building anything from door steps to huge extensions, I believe its the right time to do what iv'e always wanted and work for myself with the thought of high quality work in mind, rather than high quantity which sadly here in the UK seems to be the route bricklaying is going down!
